FAQs

How do I know if my Kubota drive belt is bad or if the issues are just from sitting too long?

When a Kubota, or any UTV, sits unused for months, the system can develop a temporary “memory” around the pulley positions. This causes rhythmic thumping or vibration when first used, but it usually settles after use. A damaged belt, one with cracks or fraying, can vibrate constantly.

It’s usually best to inspect the components for damage when you experience vibrations, unusual odors, or strange noises. A visual inspection is the quickest way to identify a problem belt.

Will using an aftermarket belt void my Kubota manufacturer's warranty?

No. Under the law, a manufacturer or dealer cannot void your equipment's warranty simply because you used an aftermarket part. However, there are caveats: The replacement part must meet manufacturer specifications, be installed correctly, and shouldn’t modify the existing vehicle.

Why might a Kubota drive belt replacement still slip or squeal after proper installation?

If the new drive belt is slipping or making unwanted noises, there are two likely culprits: glazed or rusted pulleys. If the old belt slipped excessively, it may have glazed the pulley surface, making it too smooth to grip. Alternatively, if the pulleys developed surface rust while in storage, the rust can cause issues with grip and will likely damage the new belt. It’s always best to clean pulley grooves with a scouring pad before installing a new belt.
