During installation, it’s important to properly tension your Dayco drive belt at 35 pounds per rib. After five minutes of run-in, tension it again at 30 pounds per rib. Dayco has a helpful chart for recommended belt tensions.

One of the best ways to get optimal torque from your Dayco drive belt over the course of its lifetime is to never exceed your belt’s operating limits and make sure to follow proper break-in procedures. Set aside time to remove dust or grease buildup from your drive belt every now and then using a mild soap and water solution. Never use chemicals. For Gates drive belts, it’s important to make sure your pulleys are properly aligned before installation.
